Building Expansion Project

WHO WE ARE

In 1969 a group of believers planted Northland Church to glorify God and serve as a witness to the good news of Jesus Christ in the Northlands of Kanas City. Over the decades, Northland has continued to reach its community with the gospel and make disciples of people. It is our mission for everyone to experience a transforming
encounter with God, a growing relationship with Jesus, authentic community with others, and fulfilling service opportunities.

In 1996 the members of Northland built our current sanctuary. Through their hard work, dedication, and giving they provided a place where we have continued to build our mission for almost three decades. As we move into 2022 and beyond, it is time to expand upon those earlier efforts so that we can more effectively reach the lost, disciple the saved, gather in community, and connect people’s gifting with service. It is our vision to continue to spread the gospel and disciple people by planting new churches in Kansas City and beyond.

We are not asking you to join us in building a building but in Building the Mission.

Why are we doing this?

Transforming Encounter with God

IN MATTHEW 28:19 JESUS COMMANDS us to go and make disciples of all nations. Being obedient to this command is at the heart of our mission. We want everyone to experience the transforming power of God’s love for the world; a love that is so great that the Father sent His only Son so that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). We accomplish evangelism in numerous ways: personal evangelism, community outreach events, mission partnerships, and church planting.

By expanding our current building, it will enable people to experience a Transforming Encounter with God by:

  • Allowing us to grow and plant new churches

  • Creating a welcoming environment for unchurched visitors

  • Giving us a better opportunity to connect with visitors

Growing Relationship with Jesus

IN MATTHEW 28:19-20 JESUS ALSO directs us to teach His disciples to obey all that He has commanded. Our relationship with God is more than a transformational encounter, it is a transforming walk with Christ each day. As we walk with Him, we grow in our knowledge of Him and in obedience to Him, being shaped daily into the image of the Son.

By expanding our current building, it will enable people to experience a growing relationship with Jesus by:

  • Providing additional space for Life Groups

  • Offering a space for discipleship at events such as:

    • Abide

    • Transform

    • The Gathering

Authentic Community with Others

HEBREWS 10:24-25 ENCOURAGES US to consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, and not to neglect meeting together. At Northland, we want to be more than a friendly church; we want to be a church where you find true friends and authentic community. A community focused on following Jesus that encourages each other daily, walks through hard times together, and celebrates life together.

By expanding our current building, it will enable people to experience authentic community with others by:

  • Offering a more welcoming space for new people to become connected with us

  • Providing a better nursery experience so people feel confident entrusting their babies to our care

  • Giving us a space for deeper connections at our worship services

Fulfilling Service Opportunities

1 PETER 4:10-11 DECLARES we’re all gifted by God and we use those gifts to serve each other as good stewards of God’s grace. God gives each believer a unique set of talents, skills, and passions. At Northland we don’t want to fill openings, we help people discover how God has gifted them and find opportunities for them to build up the body of Christ with those gifts.

By expanding our current building, it will enable people to experience fulfilling service opportunities by:

  • Providing a space for people to connect with our ministries

  • Sharing information about our ministry partners, such as:

    • Mission BoardsThe International and North American

    • Resource Health

    • Church plants
